- Almost no shared temperature: Altum Angelfish wants 82–88°F and Giant Gourami wants 72–82°F, so only 82°F suits both — too fine a margin to actually hold.
- Giant Gourami is large enough to threaten a small Altum Angelfish — usually fine once both are adult, but watch new additions.
- Only a narrow pH overlap — keep both around 6.5–6.5.
- Only a narrow water hardness overlap — keep both around 5–5 dGH.
- Giant Gourami is semi-aggressive — give the peaceful Altum Angelfish plenty of space, cover and broken sight lines.
Sweet spot: both do well at 82–82°F and pH 6.5–6.5 — aim there.
