- Almost no shared temperature: Altum Angelfish wants 82–88°F and Red Nose Shrimp wants 73–82°F, so only 82°F suits both — too fine a margin to actually hold.
- No overlapping pH: Altum Angelfish wants 4.5–6.5 but Red Nose Shrimp wants 7–8.
- No overlapping water hardness: Altum Angelfish wants 1–5 dGH but Red Nose Shrimp wants 6–15 dGH.

- Add only full-grown adults — never juveniles, which will be eaten.
