Why
- Betta (Siamese Fighting Fish) is one of the animals to keep away from a breeding shrimp colony — either it hunts them, or it out-competes and harasses them until the colony stops replacing itself. A Tiger Shrimp colony will not hold its numbers.
- Bettas are notorious for hunting shrimp and Tiger Shrimp is small enough to be worth chasing. Some individuals ignore them completely — provide heavy cover, and be ready to move one or the other.
- Betta (Siamese Fighting Fish) will eat Tiger Shrimp shrimplets. The colony still grows if there is moss or another dense hiding place for the babies.
- Only a narrow temperature overlap — keep both around 76–77°F.
Sweet spot: both do well at 76–77°F and pH 6.2–7.2 — aim there.

How to make it work
- Keep a large, established shrimp colony in a heavily planted tank with moss and cover so enough survive to breed.
- Target the overlapping water-parameter range and acclimate slowly.
