Why
- Almost no shared temperature: Wild-Type Betta wants 76–82°F and Discus wants 82–88°F, so only 82°F suits both — too fine a margin to actually hold.
- Wild-Type Betta is semi-aggressive — give the peaceful Discus plenty of space, cover and broken sight lines.
- Large size gap (Discus 8" vs Wild-Type Betta 2.5") — watch that the smaller one gets its share at feeding time.
Sweet spot: both do well at 82–82°F and pH 6–7 — aim there.

How to make it work
- Keep a large, established shrimp colony in a heavily planted tank with moss and cover so enough survive to breed.
- Target the overlapping water-parameter range and acclimate slowly.
- Use a larger, well-decorated tank with sightline breaks, keep everyone well-fed, and add the calmer fish first.
