- No overlapping pH: Blue Bolt Shrimp wants 5.8–6.6 but Guppy wants 6.8–7.8.
- No overlapping water hardness: Blue Bolt Shrimp wants 2–5 dGH but Guppy wants 8–20 dGH.
- Guppy is roughly twice the length of Blue Bolt Shrimp. Adults are usually left alone in a well-planted tank, but the odd one gets taken.
- Guppy will eat Blue Bolt Shrimp shrimplets. The colony still grows if there is moss or another dense hiding place for the babies.
