Why
- Thai Devil Crab is not on the verified shrimp-safe list, so we will not recommend it over a breeding Crystal Red Shrimp colony. It may well be fine — it simply has not been confirmed by a source, and an unverified guess is not worth the colony.
- Thai Devil Crab hunts shrimp. Crystal Red Shrimp is large enough to be awkward prey, but not safe.
- No overlapping pH: Thai Devil Crab wants 7.5–8.5 but Crystal Red Shrimp wants 5.8–6.8.
- No overlapping water hardness: Thai Devil Crab wants 8–18 dGH but Crystal Red Shrimp wants 3–6 dGH.
- Thai Devil Crab will eat Crystal Red Shrimp shrimplets. The colony still grows if there is moss or another dense hiding place for the babies.
- Only a narrow temperature overlap — keep both around 75–76°F.
