Can Variatus Platy live with Orange Eye Blue Tiger Shrimp?

Why
- Variatus Platy is not on the verified shrimp-safe list, so we will not recommend it over a breeding Orange Eye Blue Tiger Shrimp colony. It may well be fine — it simply has not been confirmed by a source, and an unverified guess is not worth the colony.
- No overlapping water hardness: Variatus Platy wants 10–25 dGH but Orange Eye Blue Tiger Shrimp wants 3–8 dGH.
- Variatus Platy is roughly twice the length of Orange Eye Blue Tiger Shrimp. Adults are usually left alone in a well-planted tank, but the odd one gets taken.
- Variatus Platy will eat Orange Eye Blue Tiger Shrimp shrimplets. The colony still grows if there is moss or another dense hiding place for the babies.
- Only a narrow pH overlap — keep both around 7–7.2.
Sweet spot: both do well at 65–75°F and pH 7–7.2 — aim there.
