- Red Devil Vampire Crab is not on the verified shrimp-safe list, so we will not recommend it over a breeding Pinto Shrimp colony. It may well be fine — it simply has not been confirmed by a source, and an unverified guess is not worth the colony.
- Red Devil Vampire Crab hunts shrimp. Pinto Shrimp is large enough to be awkward prey, but not safe.
- No overlapping temperature: Pinto Shrimp wants 68–74°F but Red Devil Vampire Crab wants 75–82°F.
- No overlapping pH: Pinto Shrimp wants 5.8–6.8 but Red Devil Vampire Crab wants 7.5–8.
- No overlapping water hardness: Pinto Shrimp wants 3–6 dGH but Red Devil Vampire Crab wants 8–15 dGH.
- Red Devil Vampire Crab will eat Pinto Shrimp shrimplets. The colony still grows if there is moss or another dense hiding place for the babies.
