- No overlapping water hardness: Platy wants 10–28 dGH but Typhoon Pleco wants 6–7.5 dGH.
- Very different sizes (Typhoon Pleco 12" vs Platy 2.5") — these two need different tanks, and the smaller fish will be out-competed at feeding time.
- Typhoon Pleco is semi-aggressive — give the peaceful Platy plenty of space, cover and broken sight lines.
Sweet spot: both do well at 75–82°F and pH 7–7.6 — aim there.
