Why
- Red Devil Vampire Crab is not on the verified shrimp-safe list, so we will not recommend it over a breeding Painted Fire Red Shrimp colony. It may well be fine — it simply has not been confirmed by a source, and an unverified guess is not worth the colony.
- Almost no shared temperature: Painted Fire Red Shrimp wants 65–75°F and Red Devil Vampire Crab wants 75–82°F, so only 75°F suits both — too fine a margin to actually hold.
- Red Devil Vampire Crab hunts shrimp, though Painted Fire Red Shrimp is nearly its own size — losses should be rare with cover.
- Red Devil Vampire Crab will eat Painted Fire Red Shrimp shrimplets. The colony still grows if there is moss or another dense hiding place for the babies.
- Only a narrow pH overlap — keep both around 7.5–7.8.
Sweet spot: both do well at 75–75°F and pH 7.5–7.8 — aim there.
