- Panther Crab hunts shrimp and is 3.0× the length of Crystal Red Shrimp — it will eat them.
- Panther Crab is not on the verified shrimp-safe list, so we will not recommend it over a breeding Crystal Red Shrimp colony. It may well be fine — it simply has not been confirmed by a source, and an unverified guess is not worth the colony.
- No overlapping pH: Crystal Red Shrimp wants 5.8–6.8 but Panther Crab wants 7–8.
- No overlapping water hardness: Crystal Red Shrimp wants 3–6 dGH but Panther Crab wants 8–15 dGH.
- Panther Crab will eat Crystal Red Shrimp shrimplets. The colony still grows if there is moss or another dense hiding place for the babies.
- Only a narrow temperature overlap — keep both around 75–76°F.
